WFE PTA BLOG:
This year, there have been delays in approvals for applications to free and reduced lunch. You may have seen information circulating online about students being denied lunch because of these delays.
WFE Cares is a program that ensures that every child at WFE has a lunch.
The school has a myschoolbucks.com account that the PTA deposits money into to cover the costs of the program. If the child forgets their lunch or lunch money, or there is no money in their student account, the cashiers scan this code and the PTA covers the cost of the lunch. This is a program that WFE PTA has been involved in for years. Every child at WFE is guaranteed to have a lunch, no matter what.
Members of our PTA met with the Cafeteria Manager this morning (8/30) to add funds to the account and will be contacted if funds are running low. Wake County policy has changed this year regarding how much food can be written off as a loss in the cafeteria, explaining why in previous years, some schools were only able to give out vegetables in lieu of entire meals for those with no lunch money.
Parents can donate directly to this fund by sending a check addressed to WFE or cash to the WFE office. Please address your envelope to the Cafeteria Manager for WFE’s myschoolbucks.com account. Payment can also be received by cashiers during lunch hours in the Cafeteria.
Thank you so much for your support! We look forward to working together to make sure every child is taken care of.
Who is keeping up this blog?
Hey, it's me, Kenna. My kid is in Mrs. Matala's 4th grade class. I'm keeping the blog and website up for the moment. Let me know what you want to see more or less of. I need feedback to make changes. Thank you for participating in the PTA. I believe all of our kids benefit when we pay attention.
