WFE PTA BLOG:
Please mark your calendars for our upcoming General PTA meeting. This is for parents, teachers, administrators, and anyone with a genuine sense of community at Wake Forest Elementary School. We'll discuss what's going on, what's coming up, and what's concerning you.
Thursday, December 1st at 9:30am
Please contact our PTA President, Karen Egan with any questions or concerns you'd like to be added to the agenda. If you can't make it, let us know. We want to connect with you!
Every Student Succeeds Act (ESSA) Survey
The North Carolina Department of Public Instruction is currently working on a draft state plan for implementation of the Every Student Succeeds Act (ESSA). The state plan will include indicators (factors that have an impact on student and school success) for school quality and student success.
We are interested in hearing from you on what indicators you would like to see included for student quality and student success in the draft state plan.
Please complete this one-question survey by December 1. NCPTA will communicate the top results to the Department of Public Instruction.
Hello WFE PTA Members!
We will be having a PTA Board Meeting, Thursday November 17, at 4:15pm in the media center. This meeting is for PTA Board members and administration. Members are welcome to attend if they are interested in accepting a PTA Board position in the future.
We will firm up a date for an upcoming PTA meeting for all members. Please be on the look out! Thanks!
Please join us at the school on Thursday, November 17 as we invite families to Math and Literacy Night from 6:00 to 7:30. A pizza dinner will be provided. We'll see you there!
Hello Wake Forest Elementary Families,
This is Mrs. Smith with a cougar update. Our first chorus rehearsal was a smashing success. Students learned a whole song in their first session and sounded fantastic! Chorus met again tomorrow morning for practice number two. If your third fourth fifth grader would like to participate, it is not too late. Practice is on Tuesday and Thursday at 8 o'clock. Students should enter the Forest Building through the main entrance on Sycamore Avenue and proceed to the auditorium.
Also, we invite families to math and literacy night on November 17th from 6:00 to 7:30. A pizza dinner will be provided.
Square 1 Art order forms are due on Friday, November 4th.
Finally, if you have not returned your child's data/information sheet, please return it tomorrow. We must have 100% returned.
As always, thank you for supporting Wake Forest Elementary, home of the cougars.
Dear NCPTA Member:
The North Carolina General Assembly’s Program Evaluation Division (PED) has been directed to examine how limitations on school calendar flexibility have affected school districts, school operations, and students during the past 10 years. Current state law (G.S. § 115C-84.2(d)) requires that the opening day of school for students may not be earlier than the Monday closest to August 26th and closing day of school for students may not be later than the Friday closest to June 11th.
PED has partnered with the North Carolina Parent Teacher Association (NCPTA) to send you this voluntary 10-minute survey that asks opinion questions about how the school calendar for school districts affects families.
Click on the link to complete the survey: NC PTA School Calendar Survey
Please complete this survey no later than 5:00pm on Sunday, September 25, 2016.
Your individual responses to this survey will be anonymous and cannot be linked to your email address. The NCPTA has sent you this email on our behalf; PED does not have access to your email address.
If you have any questions about the survey, please contact Carol Shaw at firstname.lastname@example.org or 919-301-1216.
Thank you for your participation! We look forward to receiving your completed survey.
Who is keeping up this blog?
Hey, it's me, Kenna. My kid is in Mrs. Matala's 4th grade class. I'm keeping the blog and website up for the moment. Let me know what you want to see more or less of. I need feedback to make changes. Thank you for participating in the PTA. I believe all of our kids benefit when we pay attention.
