Thank you families for making our Book Fair a great success! You helped us fill the shelves in the library, filled teachers' wish lists, and expanded your personal libraries. We can't thank you enough!
Family literacy night was thrilling! It was great to meet you and share our talents with you. We were so fortunate that Dr. Tim Cherry told us the story of Petite Rouge. He was a delight as always and it was wonderful to be with him. Did you know that Dr. Cherry was the art teacher at Wake Forest Elementary for years before he retired?
Principal Smith and Kenna Covington teamed up to read and illustrate A Camping Spree with Mr. Magee. Please stop by the library where you can see one of Ms. Covington's canvases from the evening! Check out that amazing campfire, made by our very own PTA President, Karen Egan. Thank you Mr. Fields for helping us set up in the gymnasium. We had so much fun!

Spring Fling 2017!
April 21st from 5:30 - 7:30
Mark your calendars for our very fun and always popular - annual Spring Fling!
We are putting together your 2016/2017 Yearbooks. Look for more information going home in Monday folders in May. These are always exciting and highlight our 5th grader's art on both covers!
We don't have a definite date for the EOG's yet, but we do know we'll need help from volunteers to proctor the exam. Don't worry, you won't be delivering the test to students, rather, observing the class to make sure pencils are sharpened and students have their needs met in accordance with the EOG regulations. Please consider helping our teachers and our students with this important part of the end of our school year.
Do you know anyone looking for volunteer hours through their employers? This counts - they just need to be registered.
What are the qualifications?
Make sure you are a registered volunteer with the WCPSS.
How do I do that?
Come to the library on any Monday between now and May and ask Mrs. Lim to help you sign up to be a volunteer.
Oh, I did that last year.
Thank you! This is something that needs to happen every year. The cool thing is that your information will already be in our system, so it's super quick. Thank you!
The last day of school is
Friday, June 9, 2017!
Do you have time to volunteer on the mornings of December 12 and 16?
If so, we would love to have your energy and attention to collect pledges for Boosterthon. We'll all learn together and have fun helping our school.
Monday, December 12th and Friday, December 16th from 8:30am to 11:30am we will be collecting pledges from our classes and entering them into the Boosterthon system. Please consider joining us for this endeavor. Thank you!
Please email Karen Egan if you are able to help with one or both of these dates.
Please mark your calendars for our upcoming General PTA meeting. This is for parents, teachers, administrators, and anyone with a genuine sense of community at Wake Forest Elementary School. We'll discuss what's going on, what's coming up, and what's concerning you.
Thursday, December 1st at 9:30am
Please contact our PTA President, Karen Egan with any questions or concerns you'd like to be added to the agenda. If you can't make it, let us know. We want to connect with you!
"The smile is the window to the soul," is Dr. Galligan's guiding philosophy in his practice. We are all smiling with gratitude that Dr. Galligan is a proud sponsor of Wake Forest Elementary School.
Dr. Galligan believes that everyone deserves a healthy and attractive smile, and his private practice can provide you with exactly that. Focusing on minimally invasive dentistry, Dr. Galligan puts a premium value on dental education and prevention, and he is willing to go the extra mile to make sure his patients have the information to keep their smiles looking their best.
Galligan Family Dentistry provides a comfortable office experience where our qualified staff is friendly and knowledgeable and our kids amenities exceed those found at many Pediatric Dentist Raleigh offices offer. Our kid-friendly office welcomes pediatric patients of all ages and actively provides preventive and minimally invasive treatment for children from ages two and above, so bring your whole family for a checkup!
Yes, going to the dentist is fun — Especially when you receive the right pediatric dental care Raleigh relies on for their children’s oral health. Dr. Ryan Galligan’s kids will tell you that he’s a kids dentist that kids will enjoy.
Please join us for our first Cougar Spirit Night of the 2016/2017 school year at PDQ in Wake Forest on Thursday October 6, 2016 from 4:00pm - 8:00pm.
Don’t stay home and cook. Take the Family out to dinner!
Tell them you are there to support Wake Forest Elementary and PDQ will donate 10% of sales to our School. We encourage you to wear your WFE Cougar shirts.
Stop in and say Hello to Principal Smith, Ms Busko, Ms Martin and many more awesome Teachers from WFE.

Dear NCPTA Member:
The North Carolina General Assembly’s Program Evaluation Division (PED) has been directed to examine how limitations on school calendar flexibility have affected school districts, school operations, and students during the past 10 years. Current state law (G.S. § 115C-84.2(d)) requires that the opening day of school for students may not be earlier than the Monday closest to August 26th and closing day of school for students may not be later than the Friday closest to June 11th.
PED has partnered with the North Carolina Parent Teacher Association (NCPTA) to send you this voluntary 10-minute survey that asks opinion questions about how the school calendar for school districts affects families.
Click on the link to complete the survey: NC PTA School Calendar Survey
Please complete this survey no later than 5:00pm on Sunday, September 25, 2016.
Your individual responses to this survey will be anonymous and cannot be linked to your email address. The NCPTA has sent you this email on our behalf; PED does not have access to your email address.
If you have any questions about the survey, please contact Carol Shaw at firstname.lastname@example.org or 919-301-1216.
Thank you for your participation! We look forward to receiving your completed survey.
Who is keeping up this blog?
Hey, it's me, Kenna. My kid is in Mrs. Matala's 4th grade class. I'm keeping the blog and website up for the moment. Let me know what you want to see more or less of. I need feedback to make changes. Thank you for participating in the PTA. I believe all of our kids benefit when we pay attention.
