WFE PTA BLOG:
Thursday night is Parent & Teacher conference night! Kids and teens perform better at school when family and parents work together. We look forward to seeing you this evening!
Friday is EARLY RELEASE day! Students are released from school at 1:15. Please make sure your teacher knows how your student will be going home.
Thank you for being amazing! WFE rocks!
Students who walk to school on October 5th will come through the front doors and receive a special recognition for the day. Please consider volunteering this morning to help us recognize our walkers. Please contact Karen Egan for more information.
Please join us for this very fun and smart fundraiser. Just take your family to dinner and mention to them that you are with Wake Forest Elementary and our school receives 10% of your meal. We really appreciate your participation and look forward to having fun with our teachers at PDQ!
Dear NCPTA Member:
The North Carolina General Assembly’s Program Evaluation Division (PED) has been directed to examine how limitations on school calendar flexibility have affected school districts, school operations, and students during the past 10 years. Current state law (G.S. § 115C-84.2(d)) requires that the opening day of school for students may not be earlier than the Monday closest to August 26th and closing day of school for students may not be later than the Friday closest to June 11th.
PED has partnered with the North Carolina Parent Teacher Association (NCPTA) to send you this voluntary 10-minute survey that asks opinion questions about how the school calendar for school districts affects families.
Click on the link to complete the survey: NC PTA School Calendar Survey
Please complete this survey no later than 5:00pm on Sunday, September 25, 2016.
Your individual responses to this survey will be anonymous and cannot be linked to your email address. The NCPTA has sent you this email on our behalf; PED does not have access to your email address.
If you have any questions about the survey, please contact Carol Shaw at firstname.lastname@example.org or 919-301-1216.
Thank you for your participation! We look forward to receiving your completed survey.

Good Neighbor Day assembles people from all walks of life for a day of food, fun, and family entertainment. By bringing together a mix of cultures, music, ages, and ethnicities, the event celebrates diversity and promotes goodwill among all of Wake Forest’s citizens.
Karen, you are amazing! You've taken on the role of keeping all of us informed and helping our PTA stay organized. It's your birthday and we hope you have a wonderful and amazing day!
Please come to school wearing your biggest smile and your best attitude. Wednesday is picture day and these pictures will be in the yearbook.
Here are some tips for a great picture day:
Parents, you can order pictures online or with the envelope that went home in your student's Monday folder. Please return this no later than Wednesday morning. Thank you for ordering pictures as memories. Your purchase helps our school.
Wake Forest Elementary School is looking for a Children’s Choir Director.
Love working with children? We are looking for someone with a musical background to work with our established Choir of 60 students 3rd, 4th and 5th grade.
Valid NC Drivers License needed. Must be able to pass WCPSS background check.
The choir meets one morning a week from 8am-8:45 for practice. In the past our Choir has preformed at various local events such as the Wake Forest Christmas Tree Lighting and Meet in the Street and a group performance at Memandi Concert Hall in Raleigh.
We have had a Choir at WFE for 20 yrs and would hate to end this tradition. This is volunteer/service position. For more information please contact Kelly Borth at email@example.com or (919) 931-5314.

The Town of Wake Forest recently completed a swimming pool assessment to determine the condition of Holding Park Pool. The evaluation revealed significant structural issues related to the integrity of the pool walls.
Located at 133 W. Owen Ave., Holding Park Pool was built in the 1940s as a WPA project. Since then the facility has undergone a number of enhancements, including an $800,000 renovation in 2014 that included the installation of a new pool deck floor, new pumps and filters, new tiles and depth markers, and a new diving board and slide, along with the complete renovation of the swimming pool locker rooms.
Before moving forward with any further aquatic improvements, the Wake Forest Board of Commissioners would like your input as to what you would like to see.
Thank you for taking the time to complete this survey. Your input is greatly appreciated!

Who is keeping up this blog?
Hey, it's me, Kenna. My kid is in Mrs. Matala's 4th grade class. I'm keeping the blog and website up for the moment. Let me know what you want to see more or less of. I need feedback to make changes. Thank you for participating in the PTA. I believe all of our kids benefit when we pay attention.
