WFE PTA BLOG:
Our annual Food Drive is happening right now! Kindergartners are collecting non-perishable food items for the Tri-Area Ministry. In addition to food items, we are also collecting mittens, gloves, scarves, and hats. Containers are located in the main lobby and at carpool, and we will be collecting until Monday, December 4. Thank you for joining us in helping those who are less fortunate this holiday season!
Please join us at Wake Forest Elementary on Saturday, November 18th from 9 to noon for a fall campus improvement day! Our campus is huge, and many hands make light work. The only landscaping maintenance provided by the school district is mowing and edging the grass. We hope to accomplish the following tasks on the 18th:
Meeting location will be the carpool zone/parking lot at the rear of the school (entrance off South Wingate Street). If you can’t commit to all three hours of service, that is OK! Any volunteer time is needed and appreciated. To help us know how many people to expect, you can sign up to volunteer here.
All volunteers should bring their own work gloves and gardening tools (spade, rake, pruners, etc). We are also in need of two or three people willing to provide gas blowers and wheelbarrows. If you are able to do so, please contact Katie Reese at email@example.com.
We look forward to seeing you at our campus improvement day! Thank you for helping make Wake Forest Elementary great. Go, Cougars!
Thank you to everyone who contributed to the October Staff Treat and helped make our Trail Mix Bar a success! Thanks for helping us show our teachers how much we love and appreciate them!
It's that time of the year to show our WFE teachers and staff how thankful we are and take them out to dinner - with our most requested "SOUP"er Event!
Make your favorite soup, stew or chili recipe or bring a dessert, salad dressings, or soup toppings! We have a couple of vegetarian and gluten free requests so don't be shy trying a new recipe. We love to have a big variety! Please label GF or V if applicable.
A little different than last year, we are serving soups for an early DINNER as the teachers get ready for Curriculum Night. So, please drop them off during afternoon pick-up. We will have a pick-up cart for the crock pots in the afternoon carpool line, and will also collect them in the front office. Send hot food in a labeled (your last name and what you made) crockpot or slow cooker. We will have the slow cookers in the cafeteria during Curriculum night for pick-up. Any remaining after curriculum night, we will return to the front office for pick up.

Friday, November 3, we will honor the outstanding behavior of some very special students at Wake Forest Elementary. Two students from each class in every grade will be invited to attend the PBIS Breakfast in recognition of their positive impact on their classrooms and school.
Please take a moment to review the list of items needed. All donated items should be dropped off the DAY BEFORE on Thursday, November 2. You may drop the donations at the front office anytime Thursday, November 2, or if you prefer, send them with your children who can then deliver them to the front office before the start of the school day on Thursday. This will ensure that we have all needed items before Friday morning to create this wonderful breakfast reward for our deserving students! Thank you WFE Families for your continued support!

We have partnered with Square 1 Art to create a unique opportunity to celebrate your child’s artistic accomplishments while raising much needed funds for the school.
Coming home soon will be your child’s custom catalog featuring their artwork. Won’t you help make your child feel like an accomplished artist by purchasing keepsakes for the whole family containing their masterpiece? The school earns profit from every order. And as a thank you for participating, each child is provided with a sheet of stickers imprinted with their artwork — absolutely FREE!
Watch for more details about the campaign and order deadlines. All online and paper order forms must be turned in by the due date on your child’s custom catalog. (No late orders can be accepted.) Together, we can help support the school, build your child’s self-esteem, and create lasting keepsakes from your child’s artistic achievements. These keepsakes make a wonderful gift-giving opportunity, and orders will be going home on November 21, before Thanksgiving Break.

Happy National School Lunch Week!
NCPTA, the Wake County PTA Council, and child nutrition services are interested in learning more from parents about school meals here in Wake County. We are all invested in working together to improve, strengthen, and reimagine school meals in Wake County this year, and we are starting the process with a brief survey. This should take only 2-3 minutes of your valuable time.
Hello PTA Members!
You know that afternoon pick-me-up we all need sometimes? Well, our school staff need it too. So, for our October staff blessing, the Hospitality Committee is hosting a Trail Mix Snack Bar in October - we would love your help to fill the snack bar with yummy items!
Please consider contributing an item or two - sign up at the link below, and then bring your item to the school office by the end of the school day on Wednesday, October 18th.

Thank You so much to everyone who participated in our Fall Fundraiser: sales of the Attractions Dining and Value Guide! With your help, we have raised needed money for our school. Sales are now closed, and we ask that any outstanding books be returned at your earliest convenience.
Thank you for supporting Wake Forest Elementary School!
The Box Tops competition is in full swing. We will be keeping track of the competition throughout the year, so tell your students to keep their eyes on the BOX TOPS NEWS board in the hall by the cafeteria. With the month of October as our first turn in date we want to encourage all students to turn in as many Box Tops as they can before October 18th. Your child can receive a small prize just for turning Box Tops into his or her teacher. Don’t forget to put your name on them. The class per grade with the most Box Tops collected at the end of October will receive a Popsicle or Hot Chocolate party! The class out of all grades with the most Box Tops collected will get to keep the Box Tops Champion Trophy in their classroom for a month.
Winners by grade for September’s Box Tops: Mrs. Bridges’ 1st Grade class, Mrs. Lampman’s 2nd Grade class, Mrs. Matala’s 4th Grade class, and Mrs. Alston’s 5th Grade class. Congratulations, you all get a Popsicle Party!
Special congratulations to Mrs. Alston’s 5th Grade class for winning the Trophy for most Box Tops collected for the month of September!

Who is keeping up this blog?
Hey, it's me, Kenna. My kid is in Mrs. Matala's 4th grade class. I'm keeping the blog and website up for the moment. Let me know what you want to see more or less of. I need feedback to make changes. Thank you for participating in the PTA. I believe all of our kids benefit when we pay attention.
